A health-care Power of Attorney is for any person in the family over 18 years of age. This is the age in which parents under HIPAA cannot have access to a child's healthcare wishes. The over 18 year old must have the rights to choose who will make medical decisions on their behalf in case of incapacitation, what medical treatments to authorize, and can also act as a DNR order.
